Sticky Post
Just the fact that there is a sticky post option makes me laugh...
So I finally started getting in my subbing checks! Well, there weren't a lot of jobs I got to fill since everytime I went to a campus and coughed they sent me home to keep students from panicking about swine flu... but it was nice to have extra money to go pick up some manga and movies. ^^;;
I'm spending Halloween with Mom and Bob. Some trick-or-treater just asked my step-dad if he lived here alone. HA. I came over here to A, sit with nefoo since he always freaks out during the evening and B, free food. Yum.
Movies have been slow and... that's about it.
I'm finding less and less to write about here on my visits. o.O I do miss you guys!

Okay, so about eight months ago when he started whatever that one show was... our promotional stuff at the theatre showed him looking really bad. Not that I'm a huge Swayze fan or anything, but I felt sorry for the guy so I started calling every mountain of popcorn we made Mt. Patrick Swayze. I was asked if I'd be stopping that and I said "No, there's no other actors' name that sounds good as a mountain." I wish I had brought my laptop because I have a good picture of one of the Mt. Patrick Swayzes we made during Harry Potter. Ha.
Speaking of cancer, apparently nefoo, Jack, has a benign tumor on his leg. I kept telling them those weren't fatty bumps. Not that he's in any discomfort. Mom's upset since it'll cost upwards of $300 to get it removed. Poor cancer dog.
Anyway, I've just finished combing the Disney Princess site for an hour and half for ideas in case we get green lighted to do a project for The Princess and the Frog. I hope we do. I'm really eager to do a girl movie instead of another stupid boy movie. Guh. I'm trying to find a local black museum to invite but the only one is a cowboy museum. Boo. I guess I could try to locate some jazz group to come out. That'd be cool.
I had so many things I wanted to talk about next opportunity I had to make an entry but I can't remember what all it was. XDD Oh well.

Lately I've felt that my brain was just slowly sliding into mush since I have no mentally stimulating job right now. Then one day at the theatre I happened to catch the Shutter Island trailer and I thought "I'd like to read that." So I took a trip down to the local Half-Priced Books and picked it up. It was great. I really enjoyed the ride and I went to my boss and told him I wanted to do a little display for it when the movie's release date gets closer.
I also picked up The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Wow. I ate that up in one night. It was a really good book. I think she fell out of some of the time consistencies since the start of the book is 1974 but that's okay. The characters were so well written. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it yet.
I also picked up her other book, not Lucky, since I'm not too terribly interested in reading a memoir about rape but the other one and I can't remember what it is. I'm taking a break from her to read some of these novels by John Case. The Genetics Code is the one I'll read next. I also picked up Child 44 since I heard some people at work talking about it. We'll see!
The reading sprint was interrupted for me to watch the Big Bang Theory season 1. Hahaha. It was on sale so I bought since I'd been able to catch a few episodes and it is awesome. I really enjoy it. ^^ I also picked up season four of House, of course. I was hoping to get caught up before the new season starts but if they're going to lower the price of season 5 around Christmas (like they always do) then I'll just have to wait it out. XD
Other than that, my co-workers at the theatre keep saying I could try to get this notebook I've used to write down a bunch of customer and theatre stories in it published. Ha. I don't think so. I do want to share them though, so I'm trying to think of a way to do that. I also need to actually update my websites today since I've been working on them at the apartment for the past few months. Woo. So much for the RaveWinds anniversary project. Oh well. ^^;;

My raise came through and it is quite nice, thank you, quite nice. I'm still playing it smart and waiting on the Internet connection, though. At least it gives me a chance to get free food from Mom.
Okay, so I'm really late in this and all but... anyone else think HP6 was kind of... eh? I mean, I had to keep reminding myself that when she wrote the book she was hormonal what with being pregnant and all. But that still didn't.... I don't know. I'm supposed to go watch it again with my sister next week, but we'll see.
Well, there really isn't much to talk about. No one's looking for history teachers interested in sponsoring academic teams rather than coaching football, so once again I'm stuck subbing. Everyone's always so friendly and everything, but still. I've been having to finish compiling school notes and my study notebooks for the teachers' exam since I bet I'll have to retake it before getting a job. Ugh.
I guess I shouldn't complain too much since at least I have a job, right? Oh well. ^^;;

So I had some extra money and decided to treat myself by picking up some new manga volumes. I've finally finished Hana Kimi, as far as collecting volumes goes! I actually hadn't read the ending of Fruits Basket, so that was fun to do. I've started reading Honey Hunt. I really like Miki Aihara's art but I hope this one is a bit less dramatic than Hot Gimmick. I loved HG, but it did have its moments. What else... Oh! I started reading Otomen. How cute. I really like it so far.
I've been downloading brushes and fonts so I can work on graphics at the apartment. I've been really tempted to turn on the desktop over there but it would kill my electric bill. It'll be hurting with the weather being what it has been.
That's pretty much all that's going on in my world lately. ^^;; I still haven't gone up to work to see Harry Potter. I've been kind of debating whether I should reread them before seeing it or not. We had a really huge crowd for our midnight show. It has been fun.
Well, hope you guys are having a cool summer! I'm up for a raise this month that's supposed to be a bit bigger than what we normally get so fingers crossed for getting my own Internet set up! ^^

Okay, so I had my first ant infestation earlier this week that totally went away in a little over 12 hours. Woo! It has been interesting. XDD
I'm leeching Mom's net again since she's back in the country. I've decided to try to redownload some of the brushes and fonts I had on the desktop to save my electric bill some. XDD I've already installed Photoshop on my laptop and stuff so I can at least work on some icons or whatever to keep me occupied. It is so much easier to make updates to websites when you can see everything you own as far as DVDs or manga volumes are concerned. I love it.
Oh this is cool! They got me a microwave for my birthday! Now I can buy the cheaper food! Hooray! XDD
Anyway, hope everyone's summer is going well so far. ^^

Sometimes being responsible sucks. I have watched just about every DVD I own. Ugh. I've only opened up my laptop at other places until I get my first electric bill so I can't even watch my JDramas right now. I hope to get that bill soon so I can start figuring out my budget.
This is what is keeping me up when I ought to have been asleep a while ago.
So Mom and I patched things up. I've been sitting here all day doing laundry since I just bought myself a new set of towels.
The apartment is awesome. I can finally unload all of my tubs of DVDs and books and actually look at what I own. It is so great. Of course, I've already run out of room but I need to buy new bookcases anyway. ^^ All the ones I currently have are ones I bought when I was living back with Dad when I started college. So they're all particle board and have water spots on them and only three shelves. Ha.
Mom is supposed to move their old white leather couch into my apartment on Monday so I have precious little time between subbing and shifts at the theatre to clear out the living room for it. At least I finally have my kitchen sorted and bathroom mostly decorated.
I got to download a bunch of dramas I was disappointed I would miss out on. XD Also downloaded the video players I needed on this laptop so I can reluctantly stow L away in my closet. Boo.
Anyway, things are going really well and I need to find myself some grub. XDD

Today was my first day off since Easter Sunday. Haha~
Umm... all my stuff was successfully moved to Dad's in only two days. My sister, who was the biggest instigator in all of this is in constant contact with our mother... I, who was merely doing that whole protecting family thing, have only seen her once. That was the day right after work when my subbing check came in. I grabbed it an left since I was supposed to meet with an apartment manager who never showed up. I'm still wanting to call them but I want to wait until I know another paycheck is coming in... so maybe after this weekend coming up.
I've been helping Dad and his girlfriend organize their house like... one room at a time. Its looking to be a bit more respectable now. ^^ They've begun taking initiative to work on it themselves. That's really good. XDD And I praise them!
Anyway. All my laundry is smoke free, I'm not constantly stuffy nosed in the morning, and I get better sleep since moving over here. The only downside is the really long commutes to the campuses. Other than that, I'm fine! ^^ I bought me a new bedsheet set that's a little scratchy but you get what you pay for. I'm hoping to invest in some pots, pans, and towels and then I'll be ready to move into my own place. ^^

GUYS... oh man... iTunes has RAVE MASTER now. Why? I mean... what? Hahahaha... wow.
Edit: Okay, so had to do a few previews and TOKYOPOP... you know something's amiss when the guys doing the crowd/background voices sound more authentic than your main character. Oh the tears...

So they actually went and got some good stuff at the grocery store... like strawberries! But only so they could have shortcake. Whatever.
When it came time to make it, they asked me to but I didn't remember what all they liked on theirs. So Mom says "Do you know why I had kids?" And of course I respond:
"Because you didn't use a condom?"
They still aren't talking to me the morning after. XDDD;;;

Garr!!!!! I've finally caught up on the English releases of Rave. I was hoping the online manga sites I know of had the last three volumes but one is like... waaay behind and the other is missing volume 33. This is laaaaaame.
I'm going back to bed.
I'm going back to bed.
Hahaha, I was motivating myself at work to stay later and get some stuff cleaned up in the office by promising myself a cold Pepsi when I got home.
Well... it worked so I guess I shouldn't be so weirded out by it. ^^;;
In other news, I finally got my shipment of Rave manga! Yay Right Stuf and their 33% off Tokyopop titles sale last week~ Umm.. there's still one more they haven't shipped me - volume 15, which I kind of need since I ordered up to volume 26. They ended up being like.. $6.70 a piece so I didn't mind buying up so much at once. Now I wish I had gone back to order the rest because that really was a great deal. Oh well, it'll come around again, I'm sure. ^^ At least now I can um... catch up. XD;;;

I haven't posted about j-dramas in a while... I've been watching a bunch of ones I never got to finish and ones I've been wanting to see.
First, I finally caught up on Puzzle, the one from 2008. Hahaha... I love Yamamoto Yuusuke. I wanted to finish Puzzle first because I knew it was a comedy and I loved his parts in the Hana Kimi drama. So if I was going to catch up on him I wanted to go that route because I've been really curious about RESCUE.
RESCUE is very nice, thank you. There's actually a Johnny that doesn't look like he's obviously faking his crying scenes. And topless rescuers in training... thank you Japan! It was kind of a bummer, and mind you I'm only watching it with the subs really... but that they made such a big stink about Masuda Takahisa being in it and... um... for like ten minutes an episode is more like it. What? Maybe he's featured a little more prominently in later episodes since they kind of needed to have other people up front for a while.
I'm also watching Voice. Oh Eita, you are so full of wonderful. I really love the series. Its like... I don't know... House with heart? Hahaha. No, seriously, it was way funny to see CSI posters in the character Teppei's room since I tend to foget that some of our stuff goes over there. Voice is really wonderful contrast. Our forensic shows deal with horrible murder and who-dunnit so its kind of nice to see one that's not really on the brighter side, since there's not much to celebrate in death... but on a lighter side. Would I be in trouble if I said it is distinctly Japanese? I love Toma.
Right now, since I'm waiting on RESCUE and Voice subs to catch up I'm watching Bloody Monday. It is really intriguing and each episode ends when I don't want it to. XDD I'm about to start episode four. This is the first drama I'm watching with Miura Hamura in it... apparently I've missed out or something. He's actually a pretty good actor... well.. he's doing this role fairly well! I really wanted to watch this one because of Narimiya Hiroki. I have been charmed since Honey and Clover.
Anyway, I hadn't updated in a while and so... now you know why it'll take longer next time. HA!

I spent the day watching the entire series. Oh my god! What a terrible and natural end. Not that... well, I was on the verge of tears with the ending but man... that was freaking violent. That kind of terrible. Wow. Good series once you get used to the design of the characters.
Wow~
Wow~
Well, I got a call for a job interview for Thursday. Less than 24 hours later it was cancelled... they found another person.
I didn't even get to have the experience of an interview for a teaching position. -_-;;
But at least Dad is giving me his car! Sure, it's an old lady's car but it has AC. LOVE!

Today I finally watched the Death Note movie. I liked it. ^^ I had bought a bunch of anime and the film last time I went to Best Buy and since I watched all the anime I decided to try the movie. I'm sure it'll be better once I can get my hands on the second film so I can watch it all together.
One thing I'm not liking are the extras. I'm glad that Viz is really proud of being able to bring this franchise over here but I couldn't care less about the English dubbing process. The audio ends up sounding obviously recorded no matter what so why bother letting us see it? Oh, so the director sat in on the session and approved? Whoopee.
Speaking of bad dubs, one of the anime I bought was Ouran Host Club. The anime was a lot better this time around for me. I didn't make it very far as the series was being subbed when it first came out so this is impressive. The banana peel schtick is still uber lame, though. No, I wasn't watching it dubbed. I'm glad that I didn't have to suffer through snips of the English voice actors' work like you do on the Naruto dvds. Ugh.
I also got the Tsubasa and xxxHolic movies. I bought this stuff like a week ago though, so it isn't like I rushd home to watch all of this. Anyway, I had seen the Holic film before but this was the first time I watched the Tsubasa... short? It wasn't that long. ^^;; Or didn't seem it if it was. Both made me want to watch the anime series again, so I'll have to hunt down some sales when I next get paid.
That's about it! I've been slowly putting my room back together from the construction. Since I have my manga and stuff reorganized I've been trying to work on the general stuff for my websites. ^^;; Probably will put in something old to make me laugh... maybe DNAngel or the Tokyo Babylon movie. Have a nice night! XD

So we had an incident here about ten minutes ago between the dogs.
See, the older one, Molly, is allergic to just about everything so you have to be careful about what you give her, right? Well, turns out that those candy cane dog chews from Petsmart don't make her ears act up. So we always know to get her those when they're set out for Christmas.
Jack isn't allergic to anything. Hell, he's the only dog we've ever known to eat lettuce and that kind of thing. But because those Petsmart bones are damned expensive, we get him some of the smaller chew bones because they're a) cheaper and b) are always in stock.
Now, Mom had to go fetch some of Molly's special dog food today from the vet. Low and behold, they are out of stock so she had to spend twice as much on it at Petsmart because we were completely out. She starts ranting and raving and the dogs do their "Somebody's shouting and it hurts my ears... I bet its because of me" face and she decides to give them a treat. Molly gets her special candy cane and Jack gets TWO of his chew sticks.
Jack got his chew sticks first, which piqued Molly's interest and she got her candy cane. Mom sees that Molly is taking hers to her special pillow underneath the table behind the sofa, so she tries to get Jack to move his chew sticks to the other side of the sofa so she won't try and steal them. Jack takes his new spot with this sticks in his paws and sets to work. Molly begins the hunt. We see her set her bone down and when Jack follows Mom back into the kitchen so we can put Molly's food away (in the cabinet where their dog treats are stored), she steals one of his sticks. Mom sees this and I'm cracking up at this point already. She takes the one abandoned chew sticks and wrestles the one away from Molly and repositions Jack on the far side of the living room. She then tries to get Molly reinterested in her own chew. Jack sees this bigger bone Molly got and gets up, all upset about it.
We finally give up because we know Molly will go for his bones if he leaves them and so while he has one of the chews in his mouth, Mom leads Jack into my room with the other. Only he drops this chew and follows Mom. Still laughing, I bring the other and follow Jack. He hesistates going into my room since we've spent all day in here but he sees my chew stick and follows. We settle him on the bed and suddenly there is a streak of white from the door onto the bed. Molly looks at us with one of the sticks in her mouth. I haven't laughed so hard in a while.
We get them separated at last and now Jack is sulking on my floor, chew sticks completely forgotten... no doubt thinking about the one that got away.
I wish I had recorded it but I hope that made somebody smile.

You know how my sister has had a nice, new car for like... eight months or less? Yeah! Guess what?
She wrecked it!
No, seriously, aside from a bruised collar bone... she's fine. Hahahaha... karma's a bitch.
